One-Step Forming of Kitchen Chimney Shafts with Tianqu Aluminum Formwork

Several workers were inspecting the quality of a newly poured kitchen chimney shaft-unlike the typical construction site where chimney shafts are installed separately at a later stage, here the chimney shaft was cast simultaneously with the main structure, resulting in a smooth, seamless finish, with no gaps at the joints with the floor slab and walls. This change in construction method stems from the project team's optimized design of the aluminum formwork-allowing for one-step casting of the kitchen chimney shaft.

In traditional construction, prefabricated chimney shafts are installed separately after the main structure is completed. This often leads to problems such as inaccurate pre-cut openings, leaks at the joints, and high-risk work at heights. To address these issues, the project team planned in advance during the aluminum formwork design phase, optimizing the chimney shaft design to integrate it seamlessly into the main concrete casting process. This eliminates potential leaks due to improper joint sealing, changing the traditional "pre-cut opening, then install chimney" method. It reduces labor and equipment costs, minimizes the risk of leaks and installation errors, and significantly shortens the construction period.

"This method requires higher standards for the initial aluminum formwork design and concrete pouring, but it truly achieves 'first-time, perfect results,'" explained the project's technical lead. "It not only improves the quality of the structure but also saves considerable project costs." Furthermore, the one-step forming of the chimney shaft offers significant energy-saving and environmental benefits. By eliminating the need for pre-embedded reinforcement and subsequent concrete pouring for the chimney shaft base and sealing, it saves on materials and time, and reduces construction waste, thus meeting green building standards.
